Larry Sandvick and his son Dylan with their dog Emma modeled for this painting. Larry is a 7 times champion bronc rider. Loren also did a charcoal drawing of this scene.
Loren first tried his hand at carving when he needed a wood carving of a horse for "The Gift Horse". He searched for days for the perfect carved horse with no luck, so he decided to carve his own from balsa wood. That experience inspired him to try his hand at clay for his first sculpture, Sleepy Head.
