Loren's inspiration:  "I wanted to show the struggle that exists between the cowboy caring for the newborn calf and the elements.  A late winter storm during calving time can be critical.  I enjoy using actual people doing what they do in real life.  My model is Lowell Peterson, a nearby rancher."
